On November 25th the MHA joined Manitoba Hydro and Green Key Global in hosting a member seminar about achieving savings for hotels through energy efficiency. Manitoba Hydro shared information about incentives for lighting, water heaters, heat recovery ventilators, and commercial kitchen appliances, and we also heard about the benefits of participating in the Green Key Eco-Rating program.

Thanks to all the delegates, exhibitors, presenters and guests who made the 88th Annual MHA Convention and Tradeshow a big success!
We had a great turnout for our Monday AGM, Convention sessions, and “Vegas Nights” dinner. Our Tuesday keynote breakfast and sold out MHA Tradeshow also received overwhelmingly positive reviews from attendees.
We were pleased to receive tremendous support for our Convention from the new provincial government, with Growth, Enterprise and Trade Minister Cliff Cullen bringing greetings on Monday, and Crown Services Minister Ron Schuler giving remarks and presenting awards at our Tuesday breakfast. A big thank you to Minister Schuler and Minister Cullen, as well as to our keynote speakers Obby Khan and George Leith, and all the officials who participated in our “Meet the Regulators” session.

The MHA Tradeshow took place on Tuesday, Oct. 25th from 10am - 4pm in the expanded banquet centre at the Victoria Inn Hotel in Winnipeg. The attendee turnout solidified that our event remains one of the strongest in Canada. Attendees benefited from meeting important suppliers, seeing new products, and finding new ways to do business. During the provincial election in spring, 2016, the MHA launched a campaign designed to inform politicians and the public about the important contributions hotels make to the economy and their communities. The “Hotels Matter” campaign included posters (click here) and a series of radio ads to raise awareness of the important contributions hotels make to Manitoba communities.
