Improvements to Empty Beer Can Sorting

The MHA is pleased to inform our members with cold beer stores that we have worked with Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries (MBLL) to reduce the number of empty beer can sorts to three.

As per a MBLL memo issued June 21st (click here to view), effective July 3, 2017, WETT Sales will now pick up all Manitoba deposit paid cans that are not distributed through BDL or Minhas.

This is a positive step forward for Manitoba’s network of hotel cold beer stores.

Beer Summit Session

On April 19th, the MHA joined Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries in presenting a Beer Summit information session for hotel members with beer vendors and/or bars. The session provided the latest consumer research for beer drinkers in Manitoba, information about MBLL’s “Beer 101” and flavour badging programs, as well as upcoming trends in beer and coolers for summer 2017.

MHA and MRFA Announce One Show for 2017

On April 6th at the Victoria Inn Hotel and Convention Centre in Winnipeg, the MHA and MRFA officially launched a new joint venture - a single trade show for the hotel and restaurant industries. The new Hotel and Restaurant Trade Show will be held Tuesday, October 24th at the Victoria Inn Hotel and Convention Centre. The show will bring the best elements from both associations’ trade shows under one roof.

Bruce MacKay said, “We are happy to be partnering with the MRFA to create a bigger, better trade show. This is something our suppliers have been requesting for a long time, and we heard you.”

Rob Walker added, “We look forward to working with the MHA to make this a very successful event for our suppliers and our members. I know that with the two associations working together, we can offer a hospitality industry trade show that is second to none.”
